Indiana Fever’s Lexie Hull sets career best

Indiana Fever’s Lexie Hull sets career best

The Indiana Fever are looking to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016, when they lost to the Phoenix Mercury in the first round. On Sunday, Lexi Hull scored 22 points in just 21 minutes to secure an important win against a strong Seattle Storm team.

Hull’s career game was aided by 8-of-10 shooting from the field, including 6-of-7 three-pointers. Her performance prompted Caitlin Clark to tweet, “This is now a Lexie Hull fan account.”

With the win, the Fever improves their record to 13-15 this season, which currently puts them seventh in the playoff standings with 12 games remaining on the team’s 40-game schedule. Indiana is 1.5 games ahead of Chicago (8th) and 1.5 games behind Phoenix (6th). The win also evens them with last year’s winning record, when they went 13-27, which helped secure Caitlin Clark with the first pick in this year’s draft.

Hull was selected sixth overall in the first round of the 2022 draft by the Fever and competed in her career game against another former Stanford star, Nneka Ogwumike, who was selected first overall by the LA Sparks in the 2012 draft.

Over the last seven games (starting on July 6 before the Olympic break), Hull has consistently played around 20 minutes per game and generally had a positive impact on the score, with the team achieving a positive +/- in five of those seven encounters.

It was also cool to see Indiana Pacers players Tyrese Haliburton and Obi Toppin get involved as Hull made long-range shots.

The Fever’s next game is Saturday, August 24, against the Minnesota Lynx. The game will be available locally on Bally Sports Indiana and to a wider audience on NBA TV. From then on, Indiana will play roughly every other day, finishing the season on September 19 against the Washington Mystics.
