Independence Day 2024: With just a few hours left for India’s 78th Independence Day tomorrow, August 15, the nation is on edge. When the clock struck midnight on August 14, 1947, India was born, and tomorrow, August 15, the country will come together to celebrate its freedom.

Preparations are in full swing at the Red Fort in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will raise the national flag there and deliver his eleventh speech in a row. From Srinagar and Ladakh to the capital New Delhi: Here are the best photos of India’s preparations for the big day.

Preparations for Independence Day at the Red Fort

The Red Fort is covered with the tricolour Indian flag ahead of the 15 August celebrations.

Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth inspected the preparations for the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort and appreciated the efforts of NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, officials concerned and serving personnel, a Press Information Bureau statement said.

Preparations for Independence Day in Jammu and Kashmir

Residents of Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir, witnessed a spectacle of lights as the city’s street lamps were decorated with tri-coloured lights.

ANI reported that a tiranga rally with a 750-metre-long tricolour was held on the world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab river in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Independence Day.

Indian Coast Guard monitors Har Ghar Tiranga campaign

On the eve of Independence Day, the Indian Coast Guard hoisted the national flag underwater as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.

The Tiranga Yatra was held from Col. Rinchen Memorial to Hall of Fame in Leh, Ladakh. Several army personnel marched to the hall waving Indian flags.

Preparations for Independence Day: dress rehearsal

In Patna, police officers were spotted performing a dress rehearsal ahead of the big day celebrations.
