Improve your balance with Good Feet Worldwide’s personalized arch support solutions

Dr.’s Own, LLC (Good Feet) is passionate about improving people’s comfort and well-being. The company is the market-leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality, custom-fitted Good Feet arch supports. Manufactured in a state-of-the-art factory in Carlsbad, California, Good Feet arch supports are supplied exclusively to franchised retail locations. At these stores, highly trained Good Feet arch support specialists provide customers with a no-obligation, free, personalized fitting tailored to their lifestyle, whether it be to enhance performance or reduce pain. Ro Blackwood, Vice President of Manufacturing and Supply Chain, is pleased to provide additional details about the company’s mission and history.

“In 1992, our founders started Good Feet with a vision to develop personalized arch support insoles for shoes that would relieve foot discomfort and reduce knee pain caused by foot misalignment. As our flagship product, the arch supports have been extremely successful with customers. Made from a proprietary polymer blend, they are designed to fit into the footbed of a shoe to support the wearer’s arch, improving balance and reducing pain in the feet, hips, ankles, and knees, among other areas. As we experienced tremendous growth in this niche, we expanded our reach by opening additional stores, which eventually led us to adopt a franchise model. From 1992 to 2018, we increased the number of our stores to 117. After a change in ownership, with our new CEO Richard Moore and the support of our private equity backers, we have grown to 270 stores from 2018 to 2023. We also plan to open up to 30 more stores this year.

“This exciting growth is a testament to the effectiveness of our products in improving the lives of our customers, as most of them come to us because they are in pain. In fact, many of our customers have tried virtually every other available solution, short of surgery, to relieve their pain, to no avail. However, when they turn to us, they find that our products relieve their suffering in most cases,” he continues.

Personalized experience

It’s worth noting that Good Feet’s success is not only due to its high-quality products, but also its unique approach and expertise in providing personalized arch support solutions. “At Good Feet, we understand that no two pairs of feet are the same, which is why we personally customize our products. Through extensive research and development (R&D), technology, design, foot studies, and consultation with medical advisors, we have created a diverse product range with over 360 sizes, as well as varying degrees of stiffness and arch heights. This diversity allows our arch support specialists to find the perfect fit for each customer. Unlike typical foot care products where consumers can simply grab products off the rack, we offer a personalized experience that starts with a consultation to understand the customer’s lifestyle. We then take impressions of each foot and measure the length and width of the foot, as well as the height and length of the arch. From there, we review the client’s lifestyle, including whether they are active or sedentary, or if they have a job that requires them to stand for long periods of time. Combining this information allows our arch support specialists to use their technical knowledge of Good Feet arch support and training to find the right fit for each client,” says Ro.

Perfect partners

Thanks to its unparalleled knowledge of the foot and its arches, Good Feet prides itself on providing instant relief to its customers. Ro explains how its products achieve such results: “One fact that many people are unaware of, including myself before I joined Good Feet, is that humans actually have four arches. Our products are designed to support all four arches, resulting in a dramatic improvement in balance and alignment. In our stores, we have partnered with reputable shoe companies whose products perfectly complement our arch supports and are designed to work seamlessly with them. For example, our stores sell Brooks running shoes and Revere fashion shoes for men and women. In addition, OS1st, a company under our umbrella, produces top quality compression socks and sleeves, offering our customers the ideal total package. Therefore, customers can visit our stores to find relief for their balance and foot problems and also get complementary products that work in harmony with our solution,” he explains.

On the topic of partnerships, Ro goes into more detail about Good Feet’s acquisition of OS1st and Stretch*d. “Two years ago, OS1st, a well-established family-owned business specializing in compression socks and sleeves, became part of the Good Feet family. Today, the company’s products are available online, in our stores, and in specialty sporting goods stores. OS1st has a strong presence in the running and pickleball community, with national and local accounts at Road Runner Sports and many others. In the last six to eight months, we also acquired Stretch*d, a New York-based company that offers elevated stretching experiences. The company is aimed at people looking to improve their flexibility or recover from injuries. At Stretch*d’s studios, clients can now receive personalized support from our extremely capable team of stretchers, led by our Head Stretcher and Trainer. Our program is tailored to the needs of each individual and we offer a premium experience with enhanced privacy and membership options to help customers build a relationship with our team and achieve their fitness goals,” he concludes.

By providing high-quality products, expert advice and building strategic partnerships, Good Feet is committed to continuing to increase customer convenience as it continues to expand geographically.
