I’m a Celebrity 2024 cast rumours as Strictly pro linked and ITV star set for surprise return

I’m a Celebrity 2024 cast rumours as Strictly pro linked and ITV star set for surprise return

Earlier this week it was confirmed that I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here will definitely be back on air this year, and the news that the show will be returning has sent rumours into overdrive about who might join Ant and Dec in the jungle. And among the stars linked to the hit series are a social media icon and a TV presenter who is being tipped to make a surprise TV return.

I’m a Celebrity first aired on ITV in 2002, with Ant and Dec as presenters from the start. Tony Blackburn won the first series, followed by other champions including Kerry Katona, Carol Thatcher, Gino D’Acampo, Matt Willis, Vicky Pattison and Scarlett Moffatt. When the show had to move to Wales in 2020 due to Covid, Giovanna Fletcher became the first Queen of the Castle, before Danny Miller became King of the Castle in 2021.

Jill Scott was voted winner when I’m a Celeb was given the green light to return to Australia in 2022, and last year’s jungle crown was clear favourite Sam Thompson.

The new series is in ITV’s autumn/winter schedule and more and more familiar faces are being touted as being involved. Here we round up the latest rumours…

Rumors about the cast of “I’m a Celebrity 2024”

Goalkeeper Barry

The social media icon, who toured the UK with her own show earlier this year, was initially linked with the new season of Strictly Come Dancing, but after her name did not appear in the confirmed line-up, GK, real name Grace Keeling, is firmly in the running for I’m a Celebrity 2024.

Linking her to the jungle, an insider said: “GK is immensely popular with the younger generation and is sharp and quick-witted, which translates well to campfire chats with other celebs. Producers say she has a lot of energy and is highly entertaining.”

As well as appearing on the hit podcast Saving Grace last year, GK was a contestant on Channel 4’s terrifying series Don’t Look Down for Stand Up To Cancer and was recently a guest panelist on Loose Women.

Giovanni Pernice

After leaving Strictly amid allegations made against him by his former celebrity partner Amanda Abbington, professional dancer Giovani is considered a favourite for the show ‘I’m a Celebrity’ and is now set to move from the BBC to ITV.

Although the Giovanni and Amanda scandal is still ongoing, a source at ITV commented: “As long as those at the helm are satisfied that Giovanni is not a bully and has not behaved inappropriately on Strictly, they will sign him. They are very aware of how much Strictly viewers will miss him, he is a real fan favourite, so they hope he will attract a lot of viewers.”

Giovanni made his Strictly debut in 2015 and reached the final three times before finally winning in 2021 with Rose Ayling-Ellis.

Phillip Schofield

Presenter Phillip was originally linked to I’m a Celeb last year, just months after his headline-grabbing exit from This Morning and ITV, and is expected to bounce back from the controversy on I’m a Celebrity 2024.

And his presenters and close friends Ant and Dec are said to be key to his success. In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, a source suggested Phillip could save his reputation by heading Down Under, where he will be questioned by his co-stars about his affair and the aftermath.

Phillip left This Morning and was subsequently fired by ITV after admitting to having an “unwise but not illegal” affair with a much younger staff member on the daytime show.

A very current rumor in light of his split from fiancée Molly Me Hague, which sent shockwaves through the fan community last week: Boxer Tommy has been linked to “I’m a Celebrity” several times since he rose to TV fame with “Love Island” in 2019.

A spokesman for bookmaker Ladbrokes put him in the running for the Jungle Camp title, saying: “Reality TV bosses will surely be lining up after the surprise split of Molly-Mae or Tommy, and the odds suggest the latter could well move into the Jungle Camp title later this year.”

Helen Worth

Helen, another TV star first linked to Strictly this year, will soon say goodbye to her long-running role as Gail Platt in Coronation Street. Soap bosses are keeping tight-lipped about the plot of her exit, but it is set to be set in the run-up to Christmas and scenes will be filmed in advance.

This means Helen would be free if she wanted to spend some time Down Under.

Tom Daley

Strictly Come Dancing bosses signed Olympic gold medallist swimmer Tom Dean this year and diver Tom, who ended his career at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, is now being talked about swapping the swimming pool for the jungle camp.

He is odds-on to take part in I’m a Celebrity at 3/1. He has already gained reality TV experience in 2013 and 2014 with his own show Splash on ITV, where stars such as Gemma Collins and Eddie The Eagle learned to dive.
