GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania. — Independence Health System expands its state and national accolades with recent recognition by Forbes on its 2024 list of America’s Best Employers in the State. This award is presented in partnership with Statista Inc., the leading statistics portal and provider of industry rankings.

Independence Health System is one of 1,294 companies nationwide and 100 in Pennsylvania to be recognized in this way. The full list of honorees can be found on the Forbes website at https://www.forbes.com/lists/best-employers-by-state/.

America’s Best Employers 2024 were determined in an independent survey from a sample of more than 160,000 employees working at companies with at least 500 employees in the United States. The ranking is open to companies in all industries and considered approximately 4.4 million employer ratings. Reviewing data collected over a three-year period allowed for a solid distinction between companies that perform consistently well and those that may have had just a single good year. An employer’s final score is determined on a state-by-state basis and is based on both personal and public ratings, taking into account willingness to recommend the employer and other independent accolades the honoree has received.

The America’s Best-In-State Employers ranking has been published every year since 2019. The partnership between Statista and Forbes spans more than a decade, as the research and analytics services produce hundreds of global industry rankings and company lists in collaboration with high-profile media partners. America’s Best-In-State Employers is one of 12 lists that Forbes will publish in 2024.

For lists based primarily on metrics – such as a company’s reputation, human resources programs and employee benefits – Statista’s analysts first identify a pool of companies in each category, which is further narrowed down by the list’s criteria. Statista then conducts research and analysis of publicly available data on each company to create the final list.

Companies must meet several benchmarks to be considered. Depending on the category, initial qualifying criteria may include metrics such as number of employees, number of years in business, industry category, and location. In addition, the specific evaluation factors – including survey responses – are incorporated into a scoring model that is unique to each list’s methodology. The companies with the highest scores are included on the final list.

The number of companies on each state’s list varied based on the size of the companies and the size of their workforce. As with all Forbes lists, companies do not pay a participation fee.
