I’ve loved jewelry since I was a kid. I was a dedicated—and quite competitive—player of the board game Pretty Pretty Princess (where you win by collecting a complete set of jewelry, including a crown), and today I have my favorite pieces that I never leave the house without. At the same time, I’ve also always been an athlete and an active girl, and now that my wedding is approaching, I’m even more so. But my two passions kind of collide, as my everyday jewelry—which mainly consists of my engagement ring and family heirlooms—doesn’t quite hold up to my workouts. Worse, for the sake of my style, my keepsakes have to endure more wear and tear than I’d like. That’s where OXB’s sweat-proof jewelry comes in.

I received the brand’s Gold Filled Initial Abby Necklace – that’s the actual name of the product, named after the football star Abby Wambachwhich is just a fun coincidence to me. When it arrived, I swapped out my regular Elsa Peretti style diamond chain and was surprised at how lightweight the OXB option was. Aesthetically, it’s a beautiful piece and I loved the little “A” embossed into the pendant.

The OXB necklace was given its first real test during hot yoga class the next morning. But while I was signing up for 6:30am power yoga to try out the necklace/see how it held up, I completely forgot about my mission. While I normally fiddle with my charms and chains during a super sweaty vinyasa flow, my OXB necklace didn’t move and I literally forgot it was there.

The same thing happened to me the next day when I was running on the treadmill. The chain stayed in place and didn’t become uncomfortable when I started to sweat – or when I started to Really Sweating at about 3 miles. It also didn’t tighten around my neck when I moved, which sometimes happens with other jewelry and creates that claustrophobic feeling.

During the week I wore the necklace, I took it a step further and ventured out for a 4-mile walk in Florida at lunchtime. Although walking is less strenuous, I wondered if the OXB necklace would irritate my notoriously sensitive skin, but it has once again impressed me. It has even withstood a dip in the ocean. I like the look, feel and comfort of the OXB necklace so much that I haven’t taken it off since I bought it.

The Initial Abby necklace can be personalized with an initial in standard or cursive script. It comes in five different lengths, two different chain styles, and in both gold and sterling silver. The brand touts its commitment to “producing high-quality, hypoallergenic jewelry that won’t fade or discolor” and combines “mantra with movement.”

Although it’s designed for active girls, it’s not just for those doing HIIT workouts or training for a marathon. The brand points out that if you’re tanning by the pool or “more of a hot girl walker,” OXB jewelry is also there for you. The sweat-proof aspect comes from its hypoallergenic materials that aren’t plated.

What I loved:

• It’s lightweight and convenient, and I forget I’m wearing it.
• It’s cute and stylish and helps me feel better while working out.
• It does what it says on the tin: the OXB Initial Abby necklace is “made to move,” how and whenever I did.
• You can tell that it is quality (which is also reflected in the price).

What I didn’t like so much:

• The design that makes it so practical places the clasp in the front. Because of this, sometimes it looks like the clasp is unintentionally visible. (My fiancé tried to “fix” it for me a few times.)
• The price is a bit high and I was skeptical before trying it out, but if you’re OK with the $148 price tag, you can rest assured that you’re paying for a quality piece.

But that’s all just my opinion, but the brand is actually inundated with positive reviews on their website. One review says the Initial Abby necklace is “really sweat-resistant and a quality piece!”
