“I long for the urn” – 85-year-old lady is THRILLED with the beach-themed urn she designed for herself

Age is just a number.

But at some point, it certainly doesn’t hurt to start planning for some of the less fun end-of-life things. Don’t get me wrong, you shouldn’t spend your youth worrying about all of this, but when the time comes, you can make some of those difficult decisions yourself – as uncomfortable as that may be.

When the time comes, I advise you to handle things like Betty did in this now-viral video below. She made something as morbid as picking out your own urn into a fun moment instead of a horrifying one. The 85-year-old and her friend Barb are known for creating entertaining TikToks, but this one is hands down the best.

Someone hands Betty her urn, which is decorated with a beach motif, and asks her if she can explain what it is. Betty is happy to talk about her beautiful vessel:

“I wanted to make sure I spent eternity in something I liked. So I bought my own urn. It has palm trees on it and I’m proud of it. And I keep it in the kitchen. I don’t want the kids to forget that I belong here.”

Oh my God …

The person who presented the urn then asks if Betty drinks her daily cup of coffee and looks at the urn every morning when in fact she keeps it in the kitchen. The old woman dropped one of the harshest quotes of all time in her response:

“Oh yes, because I long for the urn. Well, I’m 85, almost 86. I can’t see. I can’t hear. I can’t walk. I can’t do anything. So the urn sounds like a good alternative. It’s (beautiful). It is, and I chose it.”

We hope that when we get older, we can all be as enthusiastic and optimistic as Betty (and her friend Barb, I suppose). Enjoy watching the TikTok below, and follow her if you liked the “long for the urn” quote. There are many more of these on her account, but this video, which has been viewed nearly 27 million times, is certainly her most popular:
