A 33-year-old virgin says there’s “nothing wrong” with being a late bloomer, insisting it’s normal for millennials to have never done anything like that before.

Lauren Harkins made this claim in an interview with Southwest News Service, revealing that her religion was not the reason she remained chaste.

“I’m a virgin, but I’m not a traditional person. Usually it’s one or the other, but I’m just very happy with myself,” explained the Portland, Maine, resident.

“The twenties are such a confusing time, everyone is busy planning their careers and navigating all this stuff – it just wasn’t what I wanted,” she continued about sex.

Like every only child, Harkins learned early on to be content alone and never actively sought a relationship.

And while her friends experienced the ups and downs of young love, Harkins had to cope with the death of her father, William, who died when she was a teenager.

Now living primarily off her late father’s trust fund, Harkins has enjoyed an eventful life of travel and adventure. Sex just wasn’t a priority for her, she says.

“I’ve recently been to Morocco, Peru, the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, France, Germany and the Netherlands. I love immersing myself in new cultures,” she enthused.

“I think it’s important to have high standards in everything – romance and otherwise,” explained the intrepid traveler.

Harkins says she hopes talking about her sexless life will overcome the stigma that surrounds adult virgins.

“I have hundreds of messages from people in similar situations, so I feel like I’m helping people,” she told Southwest News Service.

“I am mentally and physically healthy, I am not socially awkward or inhibited, and I am completely normal despite my unique lifestyle,” she continued.

“I’m just a late bloomer – that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with me.”
