Samantha Clinch, who initially worked as an extra and later got the role of Hogwarts student Eloise Midgen, spoke openly about her experiences.

It turns out that the extras didn’t bring in as many golden galleons as one would think.

On her TikTok account @samanthaclinch, she shared: “Alright, let’s talk about how much we got paid as extras on the Harry Potter movies and how much I got paid when I became Eloise Midgeon.

“There was a big jump, a big jump in cash.

“For comparison: Daniel Radcliffe got 11 million dollars for ‘The Goblet of Fire’, which is nine and a half million pounds.”

Samantha claimed that as an extra, she would be working 12-hour days of filming that would begin at 5 a.m.

She continued: “We were called for breakfast, to be in the waiting area outside the set at 5am, and then we left on the bus at rush hour in heavy, heavy traffic.

“Do you know how much we got? 35 pounds a day, 35 pounds.”

“That’s £2.91 an hour.”

Samantha later got the role of Eloise Midgen, a Gryffindor student who unfortunately suffered from acne.

The child actress continued: “When I got the role of Eloise Midgen, I honestly didn’t know the day I walked on set how much that day would change for me and my bank account.

“We used to be humble extras, like my friends, earning £35 a day and £2.91 an hour.

“When I got this role I was earning £70 a day. They doubled it, they just doubled it.

“I mean, on the whole, earning £2.91 an hour isn’t that bad.

“And there’s this constant stream of food – it’s like an all-inclusive deal!

“Seriously, the amount of Squares bars and icing buns we’ve been consuming is at least £15 a day, minimum.”

But what did she spend her Harry Potter earnings on, you might ask.

Samantha revealed that she bought a bottle of Classique perfume by Jean Paul Gaultier, adding: “Incredible, nostalgia in a bottle. It takes me back in time.”

The actress, who starred in the 2005 film alongside Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, Emma Watson as Hermione Granger and Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, also revealed what filming the movies was like.

Sharing insights on social media, the brunette beauty explained: “What it was really like to go to school at Hogwarts – the food, the friends, the freezing temperatures.”

She said: “One question I get asked a lot is, ‘Is it fun?’

“I don’t know how to express how much of my life the filming of these movies took up.

“To describe the scene: I was 13 years old, I was attending a part-time drama school and we were all called up and you find out that you are in this incredible filmand it’s all about witches and wizards.

“You arrive, get your coat, your house, find out where you are, and then next And you know what? You’re sitting next to Ginny with the Patil twins and we’re all having breakfast in the Great Hall.

How to spot a rare Harry Potter book

With the rapid popularity of JK Rowling, the value of the first edition of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” also increased.

If you think you might have one, first check to see if Bloomsbury is listed as the publisher at the bottom of the title page.

The copy should be a first edition, which is noted on the first pages.

The latest date indicated in the copyright information must be 1997.

The author should be named “Joanne Rowling” and not “JK Rowling” and the copyright page should read “1 0 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1”.

There is an error on page 53 where “1 wand” appears twice in the list of school supplies Harry receives from Hogwarts. This error was corrected in later editions.

Of the other titles in the Harry Potter series, only the first hardback editions with dust jackets have collector’s value.

“It was truly the most incredible time of my life.

“We actually ate many of our meals at this table.

“There was always a lot of emphasis on stealing things. The saying was, ‘If you get caught with a fork, you’re fired.'”

“I remember a boy who put a fork in his pocket. He never came back.”

Many social media users expressed their jealousy about Samantha’s role in the comments.

One person said: “This was my dream. As a child I am so jealous.”

Another added: “I would have loved this as a kid, as an adult I find it so cute to imagine kids sitting around in dressing gowns eating squares.”
