Hungarian cake: The complete list of pastry shops offering the country’s cake on this national holiday

The Hungarian Confectioners’ Association has published the list of confectioners across the country that will sell the winning cakes of the “Hungary’s Cake” and “Hungary’s Sugar-Free Cake” competitions.

More than 500 locations offer Hungarian cakes

From August 19, 2024, visitors can enjoy these cakes in Hungarian Railways (Street of Hungarian Flavors) event at the Várkert Bazaar in Budapest (1013 Budapest, Ybl Miklós Square 2-6). In addition, over 500 confectioneries nationwide listed by the association will offer these special cakes, Lelépő writes.

The Union noted that the list of participating locations may be extended until August 18. They shared that the cakes are guaranteed to be available on August 19 and 20, but after those dates, customers should check directly with the cake shops to confirm availability. The title “Hungary’s Cake 2024” goes to Mákvirágcreated by the confectioner Alfréd Kovács from Vác. In the sugar-free category, Small town (Green Raspberry), a creation of Szeged-based pastry chefs Ádám Novák and László Csonka.

This year, the Hungarian Confectionery Association is organizing the Hungary’s cake Competition in honour of the Hungarian National Day on 20 August, which celebrates the founder of the state, Stephen, and Hungary’s symbolic birthday.
