How to get souls in Deadlock

Souls are the currency of the game and you want to maximize your farming skills.

Souls are the currency in Deadlock and are required for all upgrades in the game. Although it’s an FPS, it’s also a MOBA. Later in the game, your item selection becomes crucial in determining your team’s strengths and weaknesses. And to make those item selections, you need souls. Here’s how to get souls in Deadlock.

How do you get souls in Deadlock?

There are many ways to earn souls in Deadlock and it’s not just about killing creeps. If you’re a MOBA player, you’ll understand this concept much better, but don’t worry if you’ve never played a MOBA in your life. Here are the ways you can earn souls in Deadlock:

  1. Spur Trooper
  2. Jungle troops
  3. Enemy Heroes
  4. Lane Goals
  5. Map destinations

Spur Trooper

Lane Troopers are the first combat experience you will have in Deadlock. A few times per minute, a new wave of Lane Troopers (Creeps) will come out of the enemy spawn. They will come into the combat zone and fight. Similar to MOBA, these Lane Troopers will try to advance towards the lane objectives. Of course, the heroes will form the core of the damage and their fight will determine the balance of power in the lane.

The majority of your souls will come from the Lane Troopers.

Each wave consists of three ranged fighters and one healer. In the first few minutes of the game, you will receive 75 souls, regardless of which type of soldier you eliminated.

It is important to note that in the first ten minutes of the game, heroes receive souls in two different ways. The distribution of souls is as follows:

  1. Killing soldiers (50%)
  2. Save souls (50%)

So, for the first ten minutes, you can get 50% of the souls if you kill a soldier. After a soldier dies, the soul will hover above him for a few seconds. If you manage to hit that soul too, you will get the remaining 50% of the souls. However, if the enemy hits the souls, they will essentially steal those souls from you.

After ten minutes of play, 100% of the souls go to the one who secures the souls. You don’t get souls for killing soldiers, but you have to make sure you secure the souls. Of course, if no one secures the souls, they go to the team that landed the last hit.

Tip: Secure the soul directly in close combat instead of having to shoot at the soul again.

Jungle Camp

Jungle camps are scattered all over the map and heroes can target these jungle camps to get more souls. Jungle camps come in different difficulty levels and you have to choose jungle camps based on your strength and power.

Jungle creeps can be an easy way to farm more souls in Deadlock.

Jungle camps provide unsecured souls. While the souls add to your soul total, they deplete over time. If you die while possessing unsecured souls, the unsecured souls will fall to the ground. Enemies or allies can then pick them up.

Jungle Creeps have camps of different levels. The three levels of Jungle Creeps can be distinguished as follows:

Level 1 2 minutes triangle 45 6
Level 2 7 minutes Triangle with a line underneath 95 25
Level 3 7 minutes Triangle with two lines below 240 240

Level 3 camps also appear after seven minutes, but have a lot of health and deal high damage. They also lose a lot of souls. Level 3 camps are recognizable by a triangle with two lines underneath. Destroying level 3 camps usually requires high-level heroes or multiple heroes.

Soul Machines

You can also earn souls through the Soul Machines scattered around the map. You can hit them in melee or shoot them with your weapon to gain souls. Melee attacks will net you 20 souls, dealing 50 damage per hit. The machines will break after being hit ten times in melee. Once they break, they will release 200 souls.

Brown boxes

Sometimes chests will yield souls when destroyed in Deadlock.

There are also various brown boxes scattered around the map. You can shoot these boxes to find souls. The number of souls in these boxes depends on how far you are in the game.

Heroines

You get souls by killing enemy heroes. Heroes give different numbers of souls depending on the amount of bounty placed on them.

Lane Objectives – Get more souls in Deadlock

Lane objectives not only give you a significant advantage in lane, but also give your team a soul boost when you reach a significant milestone. There are three objectives in each lane.

The mid-boss appears after ten minutes in the game. He is very similar to a big boss in the game and you need your teammates to defeat him as well. The mid-boss drops a significant amount of souls which would be a huge boost for the whole team – 1750 souls in total.
