How to cast Harry Potter spells with Apple iPhones and make Siri magic work

Many Apple features are very popular with users, but did you know that your iPhone also understands “Harry Potter” spells? That’s right – just like in the wizarding world, you can use magical commands to perform everyday functions on your iPhone. For example, you can switch to silent mode or turn on the flashlight by simply saying the right spell to Siri.

If you’re a Potterhead and want to bring some magic to your iPhone, here’s what you need to know:

Lumos: Want to light up your surroundings? Just say “Hey Siri, Lumos” and your iPhone’s flashlight will turn on. In the Harry Potter series, “Lumos” is used to turn a magic wand into a flashlight.

Nox: Need to turn off the lights? Say “Hey Siri, Nox” and the flashlight will turn off. This is the equivalent of how it is used in the wizarding world to turn off the light on a wand.

Accio: Open apps without lifting a finger by saying “Hey Siri, Accio (app name).” For example, “Hey Siri, Accio Instagram” opens Instagram. In the books, “Accio” is a summoning spell, like the one Harry uses to summon his broom during the Triwizard Tournament.

You can also create your own Harry Potter spells using Siri commands. For example, if you want to create a spell like “Lumos Maxima” to turn the flashlight on to full brightness, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app, go to the Shortcuts section and tap the “+” icon in the top right corner.
  2. Tap the shortcut name at the top and rename it to the name of the spell, for example “Lumos Maxima”.
  3. Tap Add Action.
  4. Select “Set Flashlight” from the menu.
  5. Tap the blue arrow and change the setting to adjust the brightness.
  6. Test your spell by tapping the Play button below and then tapping Done.

Now you can cast spells on your iPhone like a real magician!
