House fire in Fond du Lac County damages attic on August 25


The items in the attic are considered a total loss. The rest of the house has water and smoke damage.

FOND DU LAC COUNTY – A fire in the city of Auburn damaged a residence Aug. 25, but all residents are safe, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.

The Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a 911 call about an attic fire on Double D Road around 11:20 p.m. Sunday. The officer who made the call confirmed that all residents had evacuated the home and that smoke was coming from the entire roof.

The Campbellsport Fire Department and Ambulance responded to the fire with assistance from Eden, RIT 3 and RIT 4, Mt Calvary, Kewaskum, Brownsville, Lomira, Cascade, Kohlsville and Beechwood fire departments.

The items in the attic are considered a total loss and the rest of the house also shows water and smoke damage.

The fire is not considered suspicious. According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation determined the cause was a tripped circuit breaker. No one, including emergency responders, reported any injuries.

The American Red Cross also helped on site.
