Hopewell announces new three-day festival

HOPEWELL, Va. (WWBT) – The City of Hopewell is hosting an exciting new three-day festival to celebrate its strength and uniqueness as a community.

The first-ever Hopewell Rivers & Roads Festival begins Friday, September 6 and runs through Sunday, September 8 at various locations around the city. These locations include the Hopewell City Marina, Downtown Historic District, City Park and Grant’s Headquarters at City Point.

The festival is the result of a collaboration between various city leaders and organizations. Festival organizers say Hopewell Rivers & Roads embodies “local supporting local” and offers people from the Greater Richmond Region a great opportunity to experience the hidden gem that is Hopewell.

The event includes two nights and two days of live music, a two-day bass fishing tournament with $10,000 in prize money, an all-day street festival with live music, vendors, small businesses, food trucks and interactive activities for all ages.

Additionally, there are free paddle/kayak and pontoon boat rides on the Appomattox River, a motorcycle tour along the scenic 5&Dime Route organized by local veterans and motorcyclists, an outdoor recreation and sports zone with a climbing wall from Fort Gregg-Adams MWR, and a community day with the National Park Service at Grant’s Headquarters in City Point.

The event is free and open to the public. Click here to view the full event schedule. More information can be found here.
