Harry Potter: The Secret of Hogwarts is giving away some outfits inspired by a polarizing play. The arrival of these giveaways coincides with the start of a limited-time Harry Potter: The Secret of Hogwarts Expedition.

Developed by Jam City from California, Harry Potter: The Secret of Hogwarts is a long-running free-to-play RPG for smartphones and tablets. It originally released on Android and iOS devices in April 2018 and has received regular content updates since then.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery gives away special house robes

The latest version of this kind was released on August 14th in the form of update 6.0.1. Among other things, this patch offers players a limited-time opportunity to get hold of some house robes that have been Harry Potter and the Cursed ChildAll you have to do is log into the game after the update, whereupon the player will be greeted with the gift prompt “Back to Hogwarts”. Jam City has not clarified how long these free Hogwarts Secret Cosmetics can be claimed.

The robes themselves are not a new addition to the game, as they have already been given away several times. Nevertheless Harry Potter: The Secret of Hogwarts Players who have unlocked them in the past won’t go away empty-handed here, but will instead receive an “alternative reward,” the developer said, without elaborating. Historically, Jam City’s free alternatives have most often consisted of additional currency, consumables, or both.

These limited-time giveaways are intended to promote the Broadway edition of Harry Potter and the Cursed Childwhich was performed at the Lyric Theatre over a two-year period until March 2020, then returned in November of the following year. While the original version of the play was performed in two parts, this current version is a single 3.5-hour performance. The play itself has received mixed reviews since its premiere; although its dialogue and the actors’ performance have been largely praised, some critics have described the overarching story as fanfiction-like, not least because it occasionally conflicts with the Magical world Tradition. For this reason Harry Potter Fans do not consider The Cursed Child Canon.

Apart from the free costumes, the latest Hogwarts Secret The update also introduced a limited-time expedition centered around Fitzy Flourpuff’s enchanted cake shop. Two other special adventures are also part of the pack, along with a new magical creature adventure where players will assist Hagrid in helping a giant squid in distress.
