The Cincinnati Open, the world-renowned tennis event that has become a mainstay of Mason, will be in full swing on Sunday.

The tournament, formerly known as the Western & Southern Open, will be held again from August 11 to 19 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, where it has been held since 1979. It is considered the tennis tournament that has been held in its home city for the longest time in the world.

The first participants of the 2024 Cincinnati Open included all male and female players ranked in the top 40 in the world, led by WTA No. 1 Iga Swiatek and ATP No. 1 Jannik Sinner. Seven previous tournament winners, including 2023 winner Coco Gauff, will also headline the event this year.

However, reigning men’s champion Novak Djokovic has withdrawn, the tournament announced on Thursday, August 8, after recently defeating Carlos Alcaraz to win his first Olympic gold medal.

The full series and multi-day packages for the tournament are sold out, but single-session tickets starting at about $70 can still be purchased at cincinnatiopen.com/tickets/.
