Heather Langenkamp talks about her role in Mike Flanagan’s “Life of Chuck”

Heather Langenkamp has been considered a horror icon since her appearance in the 1984 film “The Last Man”. Nightmare on Elm Street – A Nightmare on Elm Street, but her upcoming role in Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s story The life of Chuck She liked it for its atypical approach to horror. From King’s latest story collection, If it bleeds, The life of Chuck is probably the strongest of the four novellas included. The moving story of a man who has long known how he will die is more in keeping with the drama and real horrors of The Convicts as the supernatural horror of Shining.

In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, Langenkamp shared her perspective on why she was so excited to be a part of The Life of Chuck. She explained:

I was just the most excited actor in the world when I got the call from Mike Flanagan to be in his movie. And it wasn’t a horror movie in the usual sense; it’s a much deeper and more philosophical movie about life. I’m an old lady now and I feel like this movie is really going to appeal to people who like to think about their existence here on planet Earth in a Stephen King-esque way. It folds back in time. It’s kind of a time travel experience. There are people in it who are struggling with their existential reality of knowing they’re going to die. It’s super interesting. I can’t give too much away, but I’m really excited because I’m so tired of keeping it a secret.

The life of Chuck will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, but no general release date has been announced yet. Combining Flanagan’s success with previous King adaptations of the Netflix hit Gerald’s game and the highly underrated semi-sequel to The Shining – The Wonderful World of Madness, Doctor Sleep, Fans hope they don’t have to wait too long for the film.
