Heat warning today with some showers in the afternoon

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Good morning! Today is another First weather warning day as temperatures reach triple digits again.

NEXT 24 HOURS: Temperatures this morning will start mildly at 25 to 25 degrees under a mostly clear sky.

On Thursday at 10 a.m., a Heat warning will be in effect until 9 p.m. In some communities, heat index readings will reach 107 today. If you must spend extended periods of time outdoors, it is important to take frequent breaks and stay hydrated.

Scattered showers are also possible during the hottest part of the day. Typical summer afternoon storms will brew in isolated areas and then die down again shortly after.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND: This weekend you can expect a mix of sun and clouds with isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. Temperatures will remain just above 30 degrees.

The next big thing: Temperatures will drop to above 27 degrees by Tuesday next week. The risk of rain and storms will also increase, which will improve drought conditions across the state.
