Hawaii announces enhancements to Football Game Day Experience | News, Sports, Jobs



Fans attending University of Hawaii football home games this season can look forward to new improvements that will enhance the gaming experience at the Clarence TC Ching Complex.

Beer and Can Sales – To increase concession stand efficiency, UH Athletics has worked with its supplier Sodexo to allow beer can sales at all concession stands without the need to pour beer into a cup. Can sales will increase concession stand efficiency and allow for a greater beverage selection. Additionally, street vendors at the stands will sell beer and water directly to fans with wristbands. Sodexo will also set up additional ID checkpoints at Gates 2, 3 and 7 to speed up the beverage lines and allow street vendor customers to receive wristbands without having to stand in a beverage line.

Pregame Fan Event – ​​The popular “Kickoff at the Les, presented by Hawaiian Financial Federal Credit Union” The pre-game fan event returns this season and includes live entertainment, vendors, Keiki Zone and more, beginning two hours before kickoff at Les Murakami Stadium. Fans must have a ticket to the game to attend. “Kick-off in Les” will run prior to Games 1-4 before moving to UH-Manoa’s Legacy Path for the remainder of the season due to construction at Murakami Stadium. “Pā’ina on the way” will take place in the Legacy Path starting with the home game against Nevada on October 26. The Legacy Path is the walkway from Dole Street to the Campus Center.

Tailgating – Limited tailgating will be permitted for the season finale on November 30 against New Mexico in a new designated area on the upper campus at UH-Manoa. Details will be announced later.

Food Venues – Fans can enjoy their favorite foods and beverages at over 20 local food vendors throughout the Ching Complex, as well as Sodexo Concessions in the Ching Complex building, Les Murakami Stadium and the end zones, where garlic fries, chicken strips and Eisenberg hot dogs are available.

The game themes for all seven home games have been determined.

DELAWARE STATE: To kick off the season, we are celebrating with our new department-wide “We are Hawaii” theme. We celebrate the uniqueness of our fan base and what makes the University of Hawaii so special. Hawaiian Airlines will distribute 4,000 roster cards and 3,000 UH fans in Gate 2. The UH marketing team will distribute 2,000 collectible posters featuring 2024 Rainbow Warriors game schedules at Gate 2, Gate 3 and Gate 8. In honor of the 2024 Summer Olympics, we will honor current and former student-athletes who have represented their home countries as Olympians. We also welcome back the first Rainbow Wahine football team from the 1994 season as the program is honored on its 30th anniversary.

UCLA: A celebration of culture and diversity with “Day, island style.” All fans are asked to wear their favorite green UH shirt to turn the stands green as a sign of unity in front of a national television audience on CBS. All fans are encouraged to bring ti leaves for good luck, while 500 ti leaves will be distributed in the student section. There will be a keiki lei-making station, cultural performances, clear bag distribution by game sponsor Bank of Hawai’i, the always exciting Allstate Kick promotion and a pre-kickoff flyover.

NORTH OF IOWA: From the words of Earth, Wind and Fire, “Do you remember the night of September 21st?” We want to make it an unforgettable evening with lots of nostalgia and are providing you with 5,000 cool cooler towels, provided by our game sponsor Hawaiian Telcom. Listen carefully all night long as countless tunes from the disco era can be heard from the sound system and the legendary UH Marching Band.

BOISE STATE: UH and game sponsor Heineken welcome all first responders, including police, firefighters, paramedics and lifeguards for “Hawaiian Heroes’ Night.” All first responders receive a 30% discount on tickets. UH Marketing is giving away 1,000 “Hawaiian Heroes” Commemorative keyrings and 500 white plastic firefighter helmets with the UH logo for the student area. Heineken will distribute 2,500 foam shakas to fans at Gate 2.

NEVADA: A game that all UH fans look forward to is the annual “Homecoming game.” We’ll remember the past and welcome the unforgettable 1999 Rainbow Warrior football team, accompanied by legendary head coach June Jones. We’ll celebrate the present by making Homecoming all about the students, as they’ll have four chances to win four big prizes throughout the evening, including 2,000 face tattoos for children. Both men’s and women’s basketball teams will be in attendance and honored on the court as they begin their seasons. OUTRIGGER Hotels and Resorts will be the game’s main sponsor.

UNLV: “Night of Military Appreciation” sponsored by the California Hotel and Casino welcomes all retired and active military members with 50% off all tickets. Several branches of the military will be recognized in different ways throughout the evening. Before kickoff, fans can watch a flyover by F-22 fighter jets. The UH Marching Band will be joined by marching bands from the armed forces for a performance.

NEW MEXICO: One night, let’s say “Aloha and Mahalo” to the class of 2025 for “Senior Citizens’ Evening”, sponsored by First Hawaiian Bank. All fans are asked to wear their favorite aloha attire to show the love and appreciation of the islands to all seniors. A lei making station will be provided for keiki and fans to make custom leis for the seniors.

Other changes this season include…

The UH team’s bench will now occupy the Makai sideline. The move provides more space for the home team, shade and proximity to the locker room.

Modernized changing room for visitors with new, air-conditioned tent area.
