Harry Potter’s Afshan Azad announces baby news on special day

The Potter world has gained another fan as Harry Potter star Afshan Azad has welcomed her second child into the world.

Afshan, who played Padma Patil in the films and is also mother to three-year-old Kyra, announced the arrival of her daughter on Monday.

Afshan shared a photo of the newborn in a cute lemon-print romper and said that with the baby’s arrival, “her little family is complete” and she feels “beyond blessed.”

“By the grace of God, our perfect baby girl was born on August 8th, completing our little family,” Afshan wrote. “I feel so blessed to be able to give my Kyra a little sister and best friend for life – something I could only dream of.”

She added that she was “clearly destined to be a mother to a girl forever,” before telling her followers that she would be taking some “much-needed time off” to recover and “soak up the delights of each and every newborn.”

The little one was born just days before the special anniversary Afshan and her husband celebrated. “6 years later… 2 beautiful little girls… and a heart and home full of love,” she wrote alongside a wedding snapshot.

Afshan later shared another photo, explaining that she and Nabil do not consider August 12 as their official wedding anniversary as they had their Islamic Nikkah ceremony the previous October, but that they still feel nostalgic as the day approaches.

Several of Afshan’s Harry Potter co-stars sent her their greetings after learning the news of her child’s birth, including Jessie Cave, who played Lavendar Brown, and Scarlett Hefner, who played Pansy Parkinson.

Afshan’s daughter’s arrival comes five weeks after she met Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the film series.

“Padma and Ron are reunited after more than 20 years. Oh, how parenthood has changed us all. PS: He still hasn’t asked me to dance,” she said at the time, alongside a look back at the film.
