“Harry Potter” star lands next leading role

“Harry Potter” star Evanna Lynch has landed her next leading role in a film and is now part of the cast of “Influenced!”.

The actor, who played Luna Lovegood in the fantasy series, has joined the cast of the black comedy based on Oscar Wilde’s classic novel The Picture of Dorian Gray (via Variety).

Set in the world of social media influencers, Lynch plays Dora, a makeup saleswoman who becomes one of the biggest stars in her field. In her quest for fame, Dora becomes more “reckless” and “grotesque,” and her content reflects her own moral decline.

“Influenced!” is written and directed by Nick Wild. Filming is scheduled to begin in early 2024. The film currently has no release date and the supporting cast has yet to be announced.

“Nick has written a hilarious script that vividly illustrates the slow mental and moral decay that afflicts a person who loses sight of the line between reality and a filtered fantasy life,” Lynch said in a statement.

“With the algorithm always ten steps ahead and anticipating our next thoughts, Influenced! is the story of an everyday trap that none of us can seem to escape. I’m so excited to play Dora and help bring this dark, interesting and ominous story to life.”

“Developing this project has been a passion of mine for the past few years,” said Wild. “We are thrilled to be working with Evanna to bring a contemporary twist to this classic story.”

“Oscar Wilde’s themes of identity and self-image are still so relevant and have, if anything, been amplified by the current cultural obsession with showing our recognition and worth based on our follower count and face-filtered Instagram posts of our #bestlife,” he added.
