Are you ready to grab a broom and fly with the best? This is what Harry Potter: Quidditch Master will encourage you to do just that! The game is based on the popular sport in the fictional universe, but unlike many previous titles that featured it, the entire game revolves around the sport! You choose your starting spot and the position you want to take in the game, then slowly work your way up the ranks to become a worldwide Quidditch star! It won’t be easy though, and that’s why PlayStation Blog spoke to a member of the development team to discuss how the gameplay works and to showcase a new trailer!

For creative director Farren Fox, it was clear from the start that the most important thing was to reawaken the true spirit of Quidditch:

“From the beginning of development, we knew that Quidditch, with its deep roots in wizarding tradition, deserved a game built from the ground up to truly capture its competitive spirit and deliver an authentic experience. We knew that developing a standalone game was essential to focus on Quidditch’s unique mechanics and features and ensure a comprehensive and immersive experience that fans could fully enjoy.”

Now, some of you may be thinking, “Quidditch matches can technically last forever or end quickly depending on who catches the snitch. So how did the team adapt to that?” Well, actually, it was quite simple:

“We’ve worked hard to balance the game so that it captures the essence of Quidditch as portrayed in the books and films, while also playing like a modern video game. For example, catching the Golden Snitch does not end the game and is now worth 30 points – enough to catch up if a team is behind, or to secure victory if a team is ahead. This adjustment makes the Golden Snitch a powerful game mechanic, while still allowing all roles to impact the game equally.”

The team also wanted to make sure that no matter what position you play, you feel like a real witch or wizard in this world. That’s why Harry Potter: Quidditch Master allows you to customize your avatar so you can stand out from the wizarding crowd or become one of your favorite characters in the universe! Plus, you can play Quidditch matches in various iconic locations within the book/movie series.
