Hammond and Bancroft’s epic effort for Gloucestershire

Opening batsmen Miles Hammond and Australian Cameron Bancroft combined for a 151-run partnership to help Gloucestershire to a seven-wicket One-Day Cup victory over Nottinghamshire.

Third-placed Gloucestershire’s win over Group B rivals at Trent Bridge improves their chances of reaching the knockout stages of the county competition.

Hammond scored 22 fours and five sixes in his 157 runs, while Bancroft contributed 52. Ollie Price (61 not out) brought Gloucestershire home with a 20-ball lead.

Nottinghamshire captain Haseeb Hameed had earlier scored 105 and Lyndon James 61 as the hosts were bowled out for 332 in 49.3 overs.

Somerset went two points clear at the top of Group A after a five-wicket win over second-placed Worcestershire in Taunton.

Lewis Goldsworthy scored 95 and James Rew 70 as Somerset surpassed their target by more than five overs to spare, reaching 5-267 after bowling out Worcestershire for 263.

Tom Taylor improved Worcestershire’s sub-par batting performance with 73 in 65 balls from No. 7, while Somerset all-rounder Ben Green took 3-58.

Kent dented Derbyshire’s chances of a quarter-final place with a three-wicket win in Derby thanks to captain Jack Leaning’s unbeaten 81.

Leaning and Grant Stewart (48) helped Kent to 7-207 in the 46th over after Derbyshire were bowled out for 206 despite 85 from wicketkeeper Brooke Guest.

Also in Group A, Colin Ackermann was eliminated four runs short of a century as Durham ended Hampshire’s hopes of a top-three finish with a convincing 144-run win at Gosforth.

Ackermann made 96 off 98 deliveries in Durham’s 257 all out before Hampshire conceded 113 in response, with Paul Coughlin taking 3-41 and two wickets each for Neil Wagner, Bas De Leede and George Drissell.
