Qualification in direct comparison

Tsunoda 9 – Ricciardo 5

So far, Tsunoda has had the advantage in qualifying: the 24-year-old was better than Ricciardo in nine of 14 qualifying rounds.

But while Tsunoda took the lead at the start of the season, Ricciardo has had the edge more often in recent races, taking the lead in four of the last six events before the summer break.

Ricciardo also secured the team’s best grid position of the year in Canada, where he surprisingly finished fifth in only his second Q3 appearance up to this point in 2024.

Head-to-head race

Tsunoda 8 – Ricciardo 5

Tsunoda also has the edge in a direct comparison of race day. He has achieved a better result than his teammate in eight Grands Prix so far, while Ricciardo has achieved the better result five times. China is not included here, as both drivers had to retire in Shanghai.

This means Tsunoda is responsible for 22 of the team’s 34 points. But as with qualifying, Ricciardo has shown signs of improvement over the course of the season, crossing the finish line ahead of Tsunoda more often in recent weekends.
