A novel about the trauma of a woman on the east coast of Canada.
Due to trauma in her youth, Louise leads a life of hardcore punk violence until she accidentally lands a job at a mysterious men’s barbershop, where her unique relationship with her customers shows her a more perfect world – or so it seems. When that world falls apart, she escapes to an east coast marina, where she lives free of reminders of her past – except for the duffel bags she throws overboard in a deserted bay each night. But on the day of Tragically Hip’s 2016 farewell concert in Kingston, a man from the Bay of Fundy shows up, awakening long-dormant urges and giving Louise an unexpected gift: the chance to make everything right again.
Funny, warm and angry, Hair for men is a subversive examination of gender, forgiveness and throwing conventions. (By House of Anansi Press)
