A new online leak suggests that Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI could be the “most expensive game ever made.” The highly anticipated video game is expected to be released in 2025.
Grand Theft Auto VI will be the eighth main entry in the franchise, following the hugely popular Grand Theft Auto V. The game was rumored to be in development for many years before Rockstar confirmed in February 2022 that they were working on the game. A few months later, a massive leak of unfinished footage occurred. Now, GamingBible reports that the Rockstar hacker who released the early footage and source code is back and claims that the game cost over $2 billion to make. If this impressive figure is confirmed, Grand Theft Auto VI the video game with the highest development costs of all time.
