HOUSTON – If you are a parent yourself, you know that you would do anything for your child. But imagine that your child is suffering from a life-threatening illness and you don’t even have a working car to take them to the hospital or to important doctor’s appointments.
KPRC 2’s Bill Spencer met a family struggling with this brutal situation. Bill and his team at Spencer Solves It immediately went to work to help this special family.
Tesa Sveter rubs her one-and-a-half-year-old son Alistair with coconut oil to calm him down.
Her son, little Alistair, suffers from a life-threatening disease called neurocutaneous melanosis, which causes terrible seizures as well as muscular and neurological problems that could kill him at any time.

It also causes large growths or tumors and unwanted hair to grow all over the body.
His mother Tesa says she cherishes every moment she spends with him.
“I love this little boy more than life itself,” said Tesa.
Due to Alistair’s illness, it is essential for his parents to take him to his doctor’s appointments and any special therapies. However, a few months ago the family car gave up the ghost and stopped working.
SPENCER SOLVE IT
“Without this car we are completely finished,” said Tesa. “For us it’s all over.”
Tesa’s mother became desperate and decided to ask the Spencer Solves It team for help.
And I immediately contacted my friends at Christian Brothers Automotive in Cypress and the owner Scooter Owens, who has helped the Spencer Solves It team so many times in the past.
Scooter immediately agreed to restore Tesa and Ryce’s car to like-new condition.
However, there were some very serious problems with the car.
This includes a destroyed exhaust system that pumped carbon monoxide into the car and could have killed Tesa and her entire family.
The entire job takes several days. Many different repairs, brakes, exhaust, engine mounts, gearbox mounts, damaged axles and more.
The total cost of the job is well over $6,000, but Christian Brothers is ready and more than willing to do the entire job for FREE to help this family in need.
After it had been in the shop for several days, Bill Spencer drove the repaired car back to Tesa and Ryce and showed them what we had done.
“Oh my God,” she said. “It looks like a brand new car. I barely recognize our own car.”
Tesa and Ryce could hardly believe what they saw. Their once broken vehicle was transformed into a “like new” vehicle that they could actually rely on.
“There are simply not enough words to express how grateful we are,” said Tesa.
“Thank you for taking such good care of our family,” Ryce said, hugging his wife and little boy and struggling with his emotions.
More good news: After Bill told this story, even more people helped this family.
