The Grand County Sheriff’s Office announced that Ashley Macchione has been promoted to director of emergency communications.

“This important position is responsible for the overall management and operations of the Grand County Communications Center, which provides emergency communications for police, fire, emergency medical services and other public safety agencies,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release.

As director, Macchione will oversee 911 dispatchers in the communications center. She replaces current communications Lt. Jeff Bauckman, who is moving to the sheriff’s office’s Special Operations Division.

Macchione was born and raised in Longmont, Colorado and has lived in Grand County for two years. She has served the community as a Communications Specialist in the Grand County Communications Center since 2022. Prior to that, she worked for five years as a Communications Specialist, answering non-urgent and urgent service calls for the City of Longmont.

“I am honored to have Director Macchione join our leadership team at the Grand County Sheriff’s Office and look forward to supporting her vision for the future of the Communications Center,” said Sheriff Brett Schroetlin.
