With Independence Day 2024 approaching, three-time Grammy winner Ricky Kej has set a Guinness World Record with his “epic” rendition of our national anthem. On Wednesday, the musician unveiled a new version of our national anthem for the people of India, featuring a 100-member British orchestra and a choir of 14,000 tribal children, along with top legendary Indian musicians, playing our national anthem.

Sharing the video on his X-handle (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Honored to share my epic rendition of our National Anthem of India (Bharat) featuring legendary Indian musicians – a 100-piece British orchestra and a choir of 14,000 tribal children! We even won a Guinness World Record 🙂 Please share, watch, use, but with respect 🙂 It’s yours now, my humble gift to all Indians everywhere. Jai Hind! Happy #IndependenceDay2024.”

The legendary musicians who appear in a group performance in the video include Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia, Rakesh Chaurasia, Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash, Rahul Sharma, Jayanthi Kumaresh, Sheik & Kaleeshabi Mahaboob, Giridhar Udupa, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (UK) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences. The video ends with 14,000 tribal children forming a map of India and the word ‘Bharat’ in Hindi and English.

Reaction of Internet users

Shortly after the video went viral on social media, netizens began to voice their opinions on this new version. One user wrote, “Must say I heard an epic rendition of our national anthem after a long time.” “Such a beautiful generational legacy,” wrote another. A third user commented, “Amazing, goosebumps, mesmerizing. Thank you @rickykej.”

This is not the first time Ricky has conducted such a unique interpretation of our National Anthem. Last year he conducted the largest symphony orchestra ever, consisting of 100 members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra from Great Britain, to perform our National Anthem.
