Gracie Abrams explains her hopes for privacy in her life after speculation about Paul Mescal

Gracie Abrams addresses (somehow) her relationship status with Paul Mescal.

Abrams, 24, and Mescal, 28, were spotted together at London restaurant Brat last month, fueling rumors of a romance.

“It’s all scary,” said Abrams The Sunday Times in a profile published on Sunday, August 11. “You hope for privacy in your life, just like everyone else. That’s just the truth.”

While Abrams did not elaborate on the couple’s bond, she has been in the spotlight since childhood. She is the daughter of celebrated directors and producers J.J. Abrams And Katie McGrathbut the singer claims to the Just that despite her Hollywood career, she grew up in a “significantly less glamorous” environment.

Gracie Abrams was a self-proclaimed Swiftie before she actually became friends with Taylor Swift. “Every formative memory in my life is tied to a Taylor Swift song that helped me get through,” Abrams told Vanity Fair in a July 2023 profile. “My friend did this thing the other day where we mixed her discography and (…)

“My parents would go to work and then come home. They would ask (my two siblings and me) about school, they would ask us about friends, about big ideas that kids have – all the typical mundane, magical, boring shit,” Gracie recalled to the British broadcaster. “I had so little interest growing up in being associated with anything my dad did for a living – not because I don’t love him – but because I just had no interest in going down that path, you know?”

Gracie has since had her own success as a singer-songwriter, although she originally had no intention of performing on stage.

“I never wanted to be an artist. I just wanted to write,” Gracie said about the release of her latest album The secret of us has taken her career to a new level. “I feel like sometimes it feels less discreet to go somewhere. I’m just adjusting a little bit in that regard.”

She continued, “But what can you do? It’s a real blessing when people recognize what I love doing.”

Months before The secret of us fell, Gracie was recruited to join Taylor SwiftRecord-breaking Epoch tour as opening act.

“I had absolutely no expectation of being involved in this role,” Gracie said. “When I met her, it felt like we already knew each other, and I’m sure there was an element of that parasocial relationship. I grew up with her voice in my headphones my whole life.”

Gracie was later able to write with Swift, 34, for the song “Us” The secret of us. The duo performed the single live for the first time at Swift’s concert in London in June.

“When I tell you I just love this girl so much,” Swift gushed during the show. “When you write with somebody, it’s like you see the whole thing (and) all the art, you see who this person really is, and when you write with her, she’s so badass. Like, that’s a writer.”
