Grab a free LEGO Fortnite Katalina skin in the new Epic Games Store

Grab a free LEGO Fortnite Katalina skin in the new Epic Games Store

When you download the Fortnite mobile app from the new Epic Games Store, you’ll receive a free Katalina skin playable in LEGO Fortnite.

The new Epic Games Store is available to download today (August 16) on iPhones in the EU and Android devices worldwide. The first games to be included are Fortnite (including LEGO Fortnite), Rocket League Sideswipe and the brand new Fall Guys for mobile. Epic confirmed in a statement that it is working to enable all developers to publish their games and apps through the Epic Games Store in the future.

This comes after a long battle between Epic Games and Apple to get the store launched. The battle started with Fortnite being removed from Apple and Google’s app stores in 2020, and there have been a number of lengthy legal and regulatory proceedings since then. The Digital Markets Act in the EU means that the Epic Games Store for iOS has launched in Europe, but not globally like it has for Android.

“The tide is turning and the mobile ecosystem is finally opening up to competition,” said Tim Sweeney, CEO and founder of Epic Games. “We are grateful to the European Commission for allowing us to open the Epic Games Store and enable us to offer our games to iOS users in the European Union.”

Regardless of the ongoing legal proceedings, users in the EU can already download the app on iOS and Android users worldwide – and get a free LEGO Fortnite skin in return. The blue-haired Katalina with pink cat ears is free for anyone who downloads and plays Fortnite, including a LEGO-fied skin for those who play LEGO Fortnite. You’ll need to earn 100,000 XP via quests while playing on mobile to unlock the Katalina outfit.

I write about the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
