Governor Kelly announces administrative appointments


TOPEKA
– Today, Governor Laura Kelly announced 28 appointments to the following state committees, commissions, councils and advisory groups.

Kansas Association of Healing Arts
Purpose: To regulate eleven health care professions and ensure that these health care professionals meet and maintain certain qualifications in order to protect the public from incompetent professional practice, unprofessional conduct, and other prohibited conduct by persons licensed to practice in Kansas.

Kansas Advisory Group on Juvenile Justice and Crime Prevention
Purpose: To identify, represent and promote the interests of youth in Kansas.

Kansas Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs
Purpose: To coordinate, support, and cooperate with the efforts of Kansas State departments, agencies, and public and private organizations to meet the needs of the Latino community, particularly in the areas of culture, education, employment, health, housing, welfare, and recreation.

Hairdressers Association
Purpose: To regulate and licensing the hairdressing profession.

State Committee for Funeral Services
Purpose: To ensure that licensees perform their professional services in a manner that provides the greatest protection for the health, safety and welfare of the people of Kansas.

Audit Committee
Purpose: Implementation of laws and administrative regulations for auditors. The Board also exercises disciplinary powers and conducts investigations.

KANSASWORKS State Board
Purpose: To oversee and coordinate all employment and training programs and activities and to provide information to the Governor, the Legislature, public and private entities, and the public on matters related to employment and training programs, services, and facilities.

Kansas Sentencing Commission
Purpose: To develop a model or grid for sentencing guidelines based on fairness and justice and to provide a mechanism for linking justice and prison policy.

988 Coordinating Council
Purpose: To advise the Secretary of the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services and solicit feedback to make recommendations to hotline centers, counties, and municipalities regarding planning and implementation of the 988 hotline.

911 Coordination Council
Purpose: To monitor the delivery of 911 services, develop strategies for future improvements to the 911 system, and distribute available grants to emergency response centers.
