If you’re waiting for Android 15 to arrive, you’ll probably have to wait a little longer.

While most people were hoping that the latest Pixel phone series, the 9, would launch with the latest software, that hasn’t been the case as the phones have launched earlier than usual. Because of this, new owners will have to wait a bit to enjoy the full power of their phone.

The wait is not over yet.

According to a recent update from Google, it will be more than a month before the next operating system version is introduced.

This news comes courtesy of Android Authority, which discovered the information in the release notes for the Android Beta Exit update, a version of Android that will be pushed to devices opting out of Android’s beta program.

“If you are waiting for the stable Android 15 update,” the message reads, “please ignore this OTA until Android 15 is available in October.” According to Android Authority, the information received points to a mid-month launch, mainly due to a lack of stability.

Android Authority added that independent Android platform developers will get access to the Android 15 source code next week. The source code and the Pixel update usually come out on the same day. With Android 12, there was a 15-day gap between the two, but such a long gap is unusual.

When Google releases Android 15, it will initially be available on Pixel devices starting with Pixel 6.

Android 15 brings several exciting features, including the addition of private spaces or apps locked with an additional passcode, an anti-theft feature that automatically detects when someone snatches your phone from your hand, safer phone calls, AR in Google Maps, and integration of third-party trackers with Find My Device.
