Good Samaritan awarded 5 stars by CMS

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently released their Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2024, and CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney was awarded the highest possible honor.

Good Samaritan was one of only five acute care hospitals in Nebraska and the only hospital west of Norfolk to receive a five-star rating. The 236-bed regional referral center in Kearney is one of the top 250 hospitals in the country and the only Level II trauma center in the region. The hospital has received CMS’s highest honor four years in a row.

CMS’s five-star system is designed to help patients, consumers and others compare hospitals directly. The more stars, the better the hospital performs on quality measures, including mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient experience and timely and effective care.

In 2024, CMS awarded its five-star quality rating to 102 fewer hospitals.
