Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway admitted it was time for her to “shut up” when the show was interrupted by breaking news this morning. She and co-host Richard Madeley returned to the screen this morning with another round-up of news events.
However, things took a downhill turn when news about pop singer Britney Spears suddenly emerged. Good Morning Britain’s gossip expert Richard Arnold appeared on air to discuss the update.
He said: “Breaking news on Britney from the showbiz gurus at TMZ, who reported in the last few hours that Britney has settled her divorce from her ex Sam Asghari, nearly a year after he ended their marriage by filing for divorce.”
He continued: “The couple are said to have filed a settlement application, which is a voluntary agreement,” whereupon Kate abruptly interrupted him and asked: “What does that mean?” Richard quickly silenced her and replied: “I’ll explain in a minute.”
Kate blushed and replied, “OK, I’ll shut up now, sorry,” to which Richard replied coolly, “Yes, thank you, Kate.”
Summing up his report, Richard stated: “It is a voluntary agreement to settle the case together with a response to Sam’s divorce petition. A judge will soon sign this and when that happens the marriage will be history,” the Daily Star reported.
Richard concluded: “The pop princess has obviously had quite a week, with reports of financial difficulties, deleting her social media profiles and yesterday poking fun at her sister’s appearance on ‘I’m a Celebrity’, as reported on this programme.”
Sam Asghari ended his 14-month marriage to pop megastar Britney Spears last year after their romance began in 2017. They married on June 9, 2022, at Britney’s glamorous California home, a year after Sam proposed in 2021.
However, in August 2023, things took a sad turn when Sam filed his official divorce petition, citing “drifting apart” as the reason.
Despite the split, Sam still has only kind words for his ex-wife. He shared: “It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people split up and move on.”
