Good and not so good from Thursday

Good and not so good from Thursday

There is no overall report on the Commanders’ joint training on Thursday; there were some good and some not so good moments.

Hey, it’s only day ten of this 2024 preseason, so there’s no reason to overreact to what happened today at joint practice with the Jets in New Jersey.

It was a joint practice on August 8th and perhaps the most important revelation of Thursday was that the opening game of the regular season in Tampa against the Buccaneers will take place exactly on September 8th, one month from now.

Questions that were raised before Thursday’s practice will continue to arise. Remember, this was the first practice game before the first preseason game.

Jayden Daniels passed the ball to several players and Dyami Brown caught it deep. Daniels seemed to be able to process it at times and also managed a few checkdowns.

Corner Emmanuel Forbes intercepted a pass during 7-on-7 replays, but he also gave up a lot of space in man coverage. Benjamin St-Juste also allowed a big pass gain; it’s important to remember that this was not against Aaron Rodgers, who sat out Thursday.

At one point, Andrew Wylie and Brandon Coleman were the starting offensive tackles. Well, neither guy has worked out in practice games against the Jets’ defense. No word on what kind of injury Coleman suffered on Thursday. NFL coaches aren’t required to publicly report injuries, and so most of the time they don’t.

Both kickers missed several shots today. Apparently it was not a particularly good day for either Ramiz Ahmed or Riley Patterson.
