ESPN: Georgia has an 82.4% chance to beat Clemson

The site gives the Tigers a 17.6 percent chance of defeating the Bulldogs in Saturday’s game.

Reed Wallach writes: “Clemson may be making progress on offense, but that’s a tough task in a semi-neutral game in Atlanta against arguably the best defense in the country. The Bulldogs haven’t lost a regular season game since 2020, and I think the team can dominate on Saturday.”

Sports Chat Place: Take Georgia as cover against Clemson

It states: “It could be difficult for Clemson’s offense to get the ball moving here, even if this unit returns its focus to the explosive game. I think we’ll see some breakout moments here and there from the Tigers, but ultimately Georgia should be in control in this opener.”

Odds Checker: Bet on Georgia vs Clemson

Brian Good writes: “My biggest question mark for Clemson is at the QB position. Cade Klubnik wasn’t exactly stellar in his first season as a full-time starter last year, and I’m not entirely sure how much improvement we’ll see. Klubnik struggles when he tries to move the ball forward, and it shows in his 6.3 yards per attempt. Klubnik also threw for over 300 yards just twice in 2023. That’s a recipe for disaster against Georgia’s once again stellar defense. Sure, the days of Nakobe Dean, Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis are over, but it’s a similarly talented group on that side of the ball for Kirby Smart. I don’t think Clemson comes out of this game with more than 17 points, and I think Carson Beck and the Dawgs have at least 35 in them. This game is a nightmare for Clemson, so I’m picking Georgia even though the spread is nearly two TDs.”

Odds for the 2024 SEC Football Championship: Georgia and Texas as favorites for conference victory

Bill Bender writes: “That’s a huge spread considering the Bulldogs beat the Tigers 10-3 the last time they met on Sept. 4, 2021. Georgia could easily win this game if Carson Beck feels comfortable early, and Clemson lost its opener last season 28-7. That line has dropped half a point at some bookies, suggesting Clemson could hold on into the second half. This game is more of a referendum on Dabo Swinney than Kirby Smart, and that’s how it should go.”
