The quiet life of the Clooneys in Brignoles, Provence

George and Amal arrived in Brignoles in 2021 and since then locals have been talking about what it’s like to have Hollywood stars call their sleepy town home.

Ganaelle Joly, owner of Lou Gourmandises bakery, told the Daily Mail: “Madame Clooney is tall and fabulous and very, very beautiful. No matter who you are, you will look at them.”

The business owner also said that if recognized, the “down-to-earth” couple are more than happy to take photos and interact with fans.

Ganaelle told the publication that the couple came to the bakery with their dog to buy some sandwiches and salmon, and that the owner even took a photo next to the Oscar-winning actor.

“If George puts on a hat and sunglasses, he can easily go unnoticed.”

Meanwhile, a restaurant manager at Picotte told a local newspaper: “They are very simple customers. He chose a marrow bone and a plate of cheese. She had a salad. She speaks very good French, by the way.”

“They are down to earth, simple and nice. They don’t act like big stars. Many celebrities come to the region because once they are noticed, the novelty wears off and they can just live their lives.”

While the Clooneys undoubtedly enjoy being left largely alone during their trips into the city near their home, it hasn’t always been this way.

According to Paris Match, the two were besieged by excited fans immediately after their arrival at a local supermarket.

The media outlet also claims that the local hysteria has led to them barely leaving their house, except for restaurant visits. Thankfully, the couple seems to be able to enjoy some privacy while dining out these days.

In addition, their home is just a nine-minute drive from Chateau Miraval, the $500 million winery that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie purchased in 2011.

The former couple, along with Marc Perrin, bought the property and a 50 percent share of the wine business, but are now involved in a legal dispute over ownership.
