Future of 20-year-old Barcelona jewel uncertain as two players ahead of him

Future of 20-year-old Barcelona jewel uncertain as two players ahead of him

According to a report by Sergi Sole in Mundo Deportivo, Alex Valle’s future at Barcelona is uncertain after Hansi Flick opted for Gerard Martin in the recent game against Valencia.

This decision put Valle’s reputation at the club at risk as he sat on the bench while others, including Martin, were given opportunities on the field.

Valle, 20, watched as teammates Marc Bernal, Pau Victor and Gerard Martin made their La Liga debuts in the 2-1 loss to Valencia.

Despite being a natural left-back, Valle was passed over in favour of Martin, who was given the chance to play in his preferred position at left-back. Even if he gets the nod, he will have to compete against the irreplaceable Alejandro Balde.

Valle’s future is completely uncertain

It is worth mentioning that Valle travelled to Valencia for the competition knowing that if he played, he would do so wearing the number 29, a number that indicates his uncertain status in the first team.

This was a worrying sign, as other players who played in the game, such as Bernal (26) and Martin (35), wore similar numbers, suggesting that Valle is not yet fully integrated into the senior team.

In addition, Valle’s contract situation is precarious. Less than two weeks before the summer transfer window closes, Valle’s release clause is only three million euros.

This is a significant drop from the €8 million it would have been if Barcelona had opted for an automatic contract extension before August 1, in which case his salary would have exceeded €1 million per year.

The next few days will be crucial for Valle’s future at Barcelona. There is a possibility that he will be loaned out again, especially if Barcelona finalizes a deal with Joao Cancelo, who could take the right-back position.

Valle, who played as a right-back in pre-season, could become redundant with Cancelo’s arrival, leading to his possible departure from the club.
