HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (WAFF) – The Madison County community came together Saturday to help an injured detective.

Valhalla Funeral Home hosted a fundraiser for Josh Moseley, a Madison County Sheriff’s Office detective who was injured in the line of duty.

On 17 July Moseley was hospitalized after the blow by a driver directing traffic from his parked vehicle on Highway 20 at over 80 miles per hour.

Since the incident Moseley had a long road to recovery with nerve damage in the hand, 12 broken ribs, three broken ribs and two broken vertebrae.

July 18 was a quiet night for Madison County Detective Josh Moseley, but that changed suddenly.

The aim of the fundraiser is to ensure that his family receives the support they need.

Stan Clemons, funeral director at Valhalla Funeral Home, said the fundraiser is a small effort compared to what police do for the community.

“There’s medical expenses, unemployment expenses, family expenses and, you know, these police officers and firefighters and EMTs do so much for the community – we want to give back,” Clemons said. “To let him know that the community loves him.”

Donations can still be made to the Rocket City Federal Credit Union fund called the “Detective Josh Moseley Fund.”

Anyone wishing to donate can call the credit union at the following number: 256-533-0541 or donate personally at 2200 Clinton Ave W. Huntsville, AL.
