“Tumandok” by Richard Jeroui Salvadico and Arlie Sweet Sumagaysay wins the award for best film

MANILA, Philippines – The Cinemalaya Film Festival concluded its 2024 edition with its annual awards ceremony on Sunday, August 11.

Tumandoa documentary about the life of “a 16-year-old chief’s daughter who fights with her people for their ancestral land,” won the award for best film. Jaime Pacena II, making his directorial debut, won the award for best director for Kono Basho while the actresses Gabby Padilla (Kono Basho) and Marian Rivera (Balota) both took home the trophy for Best Actress.

Child actor Enzo Osorio (The hearing) was awarded Best Actor.

Tumando received a total of 5 awards, including Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Music Score and the Cinemalaya 20 NETPAC Award for Feature Film. Kono Basho received the second highest number of awards with 4, including Best Cinematography and Best Production Design.
