FRIDAY is a FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY as extreme heat is expected this afternoon.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The heat will once again be extreme in the Mid-South today. Feels like temperatures will reach around 110 in much of the region, leading to a FIRST WEATHER WARNING DAYHeat warnings are already in effect for the entire region, and even extreme heat warnings are in place for most of the area.

EVERYDAY TODAY: Highs will reach 35 to 40 degrees and feels will again peak between 42 and 45 degrees. A few passing showers are likely as a front approaches this afternoon and evening that could help cool things down by the weekend.

WEEKEND FORECAST: The heat will continue but will not be as extreme on Saturday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely as a front makes its final push through the Mid-South. Highs will reach the mid-90s, with feels in the triple digits. On Sunday, conditions will be more pleasant on the back side of the front. Highs will be just above 90s, with drier air.

EXTENDED FORECAST: Drier and cooler conditions will persist throughout the working week. Highs throughout the week will reach 30-35 degrees Celsius, with plenty of sunshine forecast. Lows will drop to 15-18 degrees Celsius by midweek.
