DOUBLE: Jungle Land and Fantasy Believer

Jungle Land can celebrate a successful stable debut for George Boughey on the sixth and final evening of the Racing League in Southwell.

After finishing second in his first two starts as Karl Burke’s favourite, the Kodiac gelding achieved a convincing overall victory in Redcar at the end of May on his third attempt.

The form of this race appears unchallenged: second-placed Coppull Hall Lane is now rated 85 after two consecutive wins, while third-placed Tourist and fifth-placed Titanium have also won twice since then from their home arena.

Jungle Land, on the other hand, has since changed stables after being bought on behalf of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing for 60,000 guineas last month.

He enters the handicap arena on a seemingly manageable mark of 82 and can be expected to be in top form as he attempts to help Team Ireland’s Billy Loughnane to a valuable success in the Racing League Race 38 Handicap.

Fantasy Believer has a good chance of completing his hat-trick in the Racing League Race 41 Handicap.

Although he is getting on in years at seven, Ed Walker’s charge appears to have returned better than ever this season. He made a successful comeback at Ascot in July after a nine-month break before bucking a 4lb weight gain to pack on the weight three weeks ago.

His recent performance can even be improved, considering that he lost several lengths at the beginning and recovered well at the end under the circumstances.

It’s not the first time he’s missed the start so that’s not a huge concern but he’s clearly in excellent health at the moment and a 3lb increase ahead of his latest outing seems more than fair, with an extra furlong being a positive.

It’s no surprise that David O’Meara decided to get Star Of Lady M out quickly for the final race of the evening after her devastating performance at York last week.

The Havana Grey mare secured her tenth career win in style on the Knavesmire, finishing just over four lengths clear of the field in a valuable handicap race for mares and winning over the five straight furlongs in a time not far off a track record.

The handicapper has given her a £10 increase, but she comes in here with a £5 penalty and will face some setbacks if she starts well.

Airspeed is considered the best bet at Carlisle in the Premier Electrical EBF Novice Stakes.

The Soldier’s Call colt was not unexpectedly victorious when he made his debut at Hamilton last month after a number of good performances and a defeat, and he was narrowly beaten by stablemate Qaseem as he attempted to build on his handicap debut at Haydock last time out.

The latter did not dent his form by finishing a close third in a key race at the Ebor meeting, and Airspeed may not need to improve much, if at all, to get back to winning ways.

Place favourite Detective can add weight and thrash his rivals in Division Two of the Nxt Recruitment Handicap.

Dianne Sayer’s stablemate came from last to first last week to record his sixth win at the Cumbrian track and, even with a £4 penalty, he continues to be well treated at his best.

Elsewhere, Bay City Roller can take a second win in two races for George Scott in the IRE Incentive It Pays To Buy Irish Novice Stakes at Chelmsford.
