Fox News poll good for Trump, but terrible for JD Vance

A new Fox News poll this week brought good news for the former president Donald Trump who extended his lead in the national polls over Kamala Harris by one point. Trump’s 50 to 49 percent lead over Harris is within the poll’s margin of error, but differs from other recent polls such as Emerson and Morning Consult, which put Harris ahead by 4 and 3 points, respectively.

While the poll undoubtedly gives a boost to the beleaguered Trump, it also produced brutal results for his running mate, the Senator. JD Vance (R-OH). The poll found that only 38 percent of respondents have a favorable opinion of Vance, while 51 percent have an unfavorable opinion of him, leaving him 13 percentage points behind.

Trump, on the other hand, had an approval rating of 47 percent and an disapproval rating of 53 percent, a deficit of 6 percentage points. Trump had one of the highest disapproval ratings of all respondents, behind President Joe Bidenwhich achieved a whopping 61 percent disapproval rate. Broken down by level of disapproval, Biden and Trump were tied, with 46 percent expressing this “strong” disapproval rate toward them.

Harris received an approval rating of 48 percent and an disapproval rating of 51 percent, just 3 points below average. Harris’ running mate, Governor. Tim Walz, Meanwhile, he recorded a positive net rating, with 41 percent rating him positively and only 39 percent rating him negatively – with 16 percent saying they had “never heard of” him.

Fox’s August poll was conducted between August 9 and 12 among 1,105 registered voters and had a margin of error of three percentage points.
