(Update: Video and comments from organizers will be added)

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — The Paris Olympics are coming to a close, with the closing ceremony taking place Sunday. But in Bend, we had our own Olympics on Saturday — the first-ever Old Mill District Doggolympics.

The event was hosted by Greg’s Grill and the Hungry Hound dog food truck. The dogs tried their best to follow their owner’s instructions and ran through obstacle courses, a high jump competition and a sprint race.

Bryan Du Toit, owner of Hungry Hound, said: “Today’s event is not just for the best dogs in town. Anyone can take part. It’s going to be really fun.”

“We have professional dogs, and then we have dogs that just come over to watch and play around on the agility course and do high jumps, things like that. It’s just meant to be a fun day for everyone involved.”

The event was a fundraiser for the nonprofit organization Street Dog Hero. The goal was to raise a few thousand dollars for the organization.
