UPDATE: Fortnite is officially offline for the launch of Chapter 5 Season 4. Servers are currently down on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Android, and Switch. With server maintenance expected to last until around 10:00am BST (UK time), fans can download and install the new 31.00 update, which is more extensive than the traditional weekly updates. Speaking of the game’s servers, Epic has also fixed a specific server issue on PC. Epic further explains: “We fixed a ‘server offline’ issue some PC players were experiencing that resulted in two versions of Fortnite appearing in your launcher. “Please uninstall this additional version once you have started installing and select ‘Confirm’ in your original app to confirm you have the correct Fortnite to proceed. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.” Daily Express will keep this story updated with all the latest server developments and any official status updates from Epic Games on Twitter, so keep checking back to stay up to date.

ORIGINAL: Fortnite developer Epic Games will take the game offline for the start of the new season. Chapter 5, Season 4 will reintroduce Marvel characters and locations to Fortnite Battle Royale. Update 31.00 is coming to PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Android, and PC, and will be available to download on Friday morning, August 16. The big new update will be accompanied by an extended server downtime, meaning you won’t be able to play Fortnite for at least three hours, but likely even longer due to the amount of new content. The news was announced in a tweet from Epic Games on X and included the exact time when Fortnite will be taken offline, as well as information on what players can expect from the new season.

“Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 3 will now end on August 15 at 11:00 PM ET and we will begin maintenance for v31.00 shortly thereafter,” Epic said in a tweet.

For fans playing in the UK, this means Fortnite will be taken completely offline at around 4:00am BST.

Epic hasn’t announced exactly when the downtime will end, but maintenance for a new season tends to take much longer than usual.

This means Fortnite and all of its game modes should be back online around 10:00am (CEST, UK time), but it may be later.

On the positive side, the downtime is accompanied by a new update that can be downloaded while the servers are offline.

Update 31.00 introduces all new content, including the brand new Battle Pass items, new weapons, and map locations.

The Battle Pass starts with the Gwenpool skin and also includes War Machine, Peelverine, Emma Frost, Shuri, and Mysterio.

Jonesy also returns as part of the Battle Pass, only this time he is modeled after Captain America.

Doctor Doom will join the Battle Pass later in the season, while the Fantastic Four are expected to hit the Item Shop sometime in the coming weeks.

Marvel-themed locations will be added to the map, including a landmark called Castle Doom and another titled Doomstadt.

Similar to previous seasons featuring guest characters from Marvel and Star Wars series, players can discover mythical weapons with special powers.

These include Iron Man’s gloves and Stark Industries energy rifle, as well as War Machine’s jetpack and turret.
