Fortnite players criticize Epic for “stupid nerf” of spawn rates in Chapter 5, Season 4

Fortnite just introduced the balance changes for Chapter 5, Season 4 and players are unhappy with how things have turned out in the game.

Fortnite players were greeted with a new meta shortly after the launch of Chapter 5 Season 4 as new Marvel weapons and items were introduced. With that in mind, the biggest complaint on day one was Captain America’s shield, which deals massive amounts of damage with auto-targeting.

Combine the shield with War Machine’s automatic turret and hover jets and the battle royale will be even more chaotic as you mow down enemies left and right. While Epic has made some balance changes, players have gathered in a Reddit thread to voice their frustration over recent nerfs affecting the spawn rates of some weapons and items.

One user wrote: “Weakening items by reducing their drop rate is the most bullshit I’ve ever seen. Fuck whoever at Epic thinks that’s the right way to do it.” He went on to explain that he died “so many times” because the enemy had a jetpack while he only had shockwaves.

The new Fortnite season brings a Marvel theme back to the game.

Since this is the case, the enemy could “start or end the fight at any time,” while he himself “doesn’t have the luxury of doing the same” since he “has no mobility at all due to the spawn rate nerfs.” Many other players who gathered in the comments agreed with this sentiment.

Although this is not the first time, one user mentioned that “reducing the drop rate of an OP item in a BR game is obviously a very bad idea.”

They continued: “They’re nerfing the quality, not the quantity. And people like me who already have a solid route with tons of Avenger Chests will still get everything they need, while more laid-back players will be left without the new items. For God’s sake.”

“It’s the same problem we had with sniper rifles towards the end of Season 1. It makes the game much more reliant on the random number generator,” another user commented.

Meanwhile, another user said: “Exactly. Having fewer shields and jetpacks available per round doesn’t protect us from having to deal with them. It just puts us more at the mercy of those who find them.”

“This is such a stupid nerf because for those who get lucky and get the items, the game gets a lot better,” one person chimed in. Fortnite is known for making occasional balance changes throughout the season. If you want to refresh your mind on the changes, check out the game’s recent patch notes.
