“Fortnite” Developer Epic Games announced Thursday that it is a partnership with Lego to build a metaverse for children.

The two entertainment heavyweights say they will create a comprehensive digital experience that is safe and entertaining for children of all ages, but Few details have been revealed about what the virtual world will look like or when it will launch.

Both companies said they would work together to ensure the safety, privacy and well-being of children and provide children and adults with tools to give them control over their digital experiences.

This week, Epic also launched the next generation of its Unreal Engine game creation tool.

“We’re excited to work together to create a space in the metaverse that’s fun, entertaining, and made for kids and families,” said Tim Sweeney, CEO and founder of Epic, in a press release.

Sweeney told the Washington Post Last year, he envisioned the metaverse as a kind of “online playground” where users could play games together and watch movies on Netflix.

The two companies join the ranks of several other companies looking to build their own metaverses, such as Niantic, the augmented reality platform that develops games like Pokémon GO. Niantic 300 million US dollars raised last year to create what it calls the “real-world metaverse.”
