Former Southern Colorado prosecutor sentenced to 12 years to life in prison

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado (KRDO) — A Douglas County judge sentenced Matthew Krob to 12 years to life in prison. Krob was previously found guilty on seven counts related to a 2022 sexual assault at a Larkspur resort.

Krob is the former city attorney in Florence and Palmer Lake. He was fired in Florence in March 2022 after a sexual harassment scandal was uncovered at City Hall. KRDO13 investigated.

Krob’s victims told the court that there were “no words to describe the devastation” and “the sounds of that night will never leave them.”

Krob’s family told the court they had never seen anything even close to the acts described in the previous trial and said Matthew Krob was of high character.

After a five-day trial in May 2024, the jury found Krob guilty of sexual contact without consent, third-degree assault, obstruction of telephone service, and second-degree assault. Krob was acquitted of two counts of child abuse.

The judge found that Krob was not entitled to bail, but noted that Krob’s appeal was not without merit.
