Former SBU General Andriy Naumov on Interpol’s wanted list

At the request of the Ukrainian State Investigation Bureau, Interpol has placed Andrii Naumov, former general of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), on the international wanted list.

This was a message from the office’s press office, Ukrinform reported.

On August 26, 2024, a Red Notice was published in the records of the General Secretariat of Interpol.

The State Investigation Bureau (SBI) suspects the former official of embezzling public funds worth UAH 3.2 million during his tenure as head of a state-owned enterprise in 2019-2021.

The former SBU general was arrested on June 7, 2022, while attempting to cross from Serbia into North Macedonia in a vehicle carrying 592,000 euros, 120,000 US dollars and two precious stones.

The investigation is ongoing.

The SBU did not disclose the name of the general, but it did publish a photo showing the former head of the SBU’s Main Directorate for Internal Security, Andriy Naumov.

In June 2024, Naumov was suspected by the SBI. He was accused of falsifying documents to avoid criminal prosecution in the Republic of Serbia.

On June 7, 2022, the former high-ranking official attempted to enter North Macedonia from the Republic of Serbia through the Preševo ​​border crossing without declaring property and money at the customs control.

592,990 euros, 120,102 US dollars and two emeralds were found on him.

The man was driving a BMW X6 PMV that originally belonged to his wife.

Investigators believe that the man acquired the property and funds illegally while working as a director of a state-owned company and later for the Security Service of Ukraine.
